Artist: Courtial With Errol Knowles

Profile:

A rare bit of Cali soul – and a lot groovier than you’d guess from the cover! The music is rich in jazzy inflections – funky fusion used behind the lead vocals of Errol Knowles, in a blend that’s quite similar to the best Bay Area funk of the time – particularly some of the grooves coming from the Fantasy Records scene! Guitars are great – played by Bill Courtial with lots of snakey, angular lines that really emphasize the groove – and other instrumentation includes keyboards and some mighty sweet percussion. Titles include “Losing You”, “Love Nevermore”, “Corn On The Cob/Time”, “Don’t You Think It’s Time”, “Time To Explain”, and “Poem For Helen”.
