Storyline
When gorgeous Dani Fairview (Tempestt Bledsoe) is asked out on a date by the star of the football team, Jim Parker (Kadeem Hardison), she dreams of the perfect evening-dancing, dining, and...a little romance! Her overprotective father Bill (Clifton Davis), however, has other ideas. Bill secretly follows Dani on her date to make sure Jim doesn't put the moves on his "little girl." What follows is a series of hilarious mishaps involving a crazed movie freak (Richard Moll), a heavy metal rocker (Pauly Shore), and Jim's jealous ex-girlfriend who will try anything to get her boyfriend back.

Extraterrestrial Live is the 1982 live album by Blue Öyster Cult. It was recorded throughout the Fire Of Unknown Origin and features then-new songs ("Burnin' For You", "Joan Crawford", "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars") plus valued chestnuts ("Godzilla", "(Don't Fear) The Reaper"), and a guest appearance from The Doors' Robbie Krieger in a cover of "Roadhouse Blues."
Of Blue Öyster Cult's three live albums, Extraterrestrial Live is the one to own. The two-record set, partially recorded on BÖC's home base of Long Island, contains the band's biggest hits, "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" (making its second live appearance) and "Burnin' for You," as well as longtime concert favorites like "Cities on Flame," "The Red and the Black," and "Godzilla." But it isn't just the superior song selection that gives this album the nod over On Your Feet or on Your Knees and Some Enchanted Evening; BÖC had regained its momentum in 1981 with Fire of Unknown Origin, and this album demonstrated their renewed spirit in the forum in which they were most comfortable – live work.

Fire Of Unknown Origin is the 1981 album by Blue Öyster Cult. This features the massive hit "Burnin' For You", plus "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars", "Heavy Metal: The Black And Silver" and "Joan Crawford." This is the second CD pressing, with the "triangle in circle" below the "Compact Disc Digital Audio" logo on the right side of the disc.
Who would have thought that in 1981, after a pair of limp, unfocused studio offerings, and two mixed – at best – live outings, that the once mighty Blue Öyster Cult would come back with such a fierce, creative, and uncompromising effort as Fire of Unknown Origin. Here was their finest moment since Agents of Fortune five years earlier, and one of their finest ever. Bringing back into the fold the faithful team who helped articulate their earlier vision, producer Sandy Pearlman, Richard Meltzer, and Patti Smith all helped in the lyric department, as did science fiction and dark fantasy writer Michael Moorcock. The band's sound was augmented by a plethora of keyboards courtesy of Allen Lanier, but nonetheless retained a modicum of its heaviness, and the sheer songwriting craft that had helped separate the band form its peers early on was everywhere evident here – especially the gloriously noir-ish Top 40 single "Burning for You," written by Meltzer and guitarist Buck Dharma. Other standouts on the set include the plodding, über-riff pyrotechnics of "Heavy Metal: The Black and the Silver," and the Mott the Hoople- and Queen-influenced glammed up roots rock of "Joan Crawford." The terrifying images of desecration and apocalyptic war in "Veteran of Psychic Wars," with words by Moorcock, feature huge synth lines, dual leads by Dharma and Eric Bloom – as well as a tom-tom orgy from Albert Bouchard – offered a new pathway through the eternal night of the Cult's best work.

Smooth Jazz Vagina is the first and last album by Abraxasaxophonic. It was the not-so-secret identity of saxophonist Arrington De Dionyso of Old Time Relijun, where he plays distorted sax over a very loud smooth jazz radio station. Songs #1-2 are the original release, songs #3-7 are bonus tracks. This was released on the N.G.W.T.T. ("Nothing Gets Worse Than This") label.

Amir Bresler – Afro Golden Line
A very in demand drummer in his native Israel and around the world, Amir Bresler has recently released this gem of a forty five on raw tapes. Taken from some tracks he did for Meinl cymbals with the producer Yuvi (Rejoicer), his treks back and forth to the Meinl factory doing these tracks have turned into an official release. “Afro Golden Line” is a nod to African Highlife music, particularly that of Nigeria and Ghana. It’s a fantastic piece of music and features Sefi Zisling on trumpet and Uzi Ramirez’s on guitar. If you were never introduced to African music and this was your first, you’d be delighted. We are for sure. The flip, “Fish”, is a track taken from an old mixtape of LBT that originally had vocals by KerenDun. Amir’s recorded it at his studio and Beno & Nomok also helped compose the track. Nu Jazz at its finest. Bresler’s drumming is exquisite, and really shines on this future classic of a B-Side. Both sides, really are dope, so if you dig African Highlife with a twist and a future leaning jazz perspective on the flip, this seven inch is for you. Stream both sides below. There's an old adage that during the '60s anything seemed possible. Certainly, the unlikely group of middle-aged producers, studio vocalists, and reformed folkies featured on this collection proved this to be true. They sang of sunshine, cotton candy, and, of course, love in a totally irony-free context. One must remember, it was a time when The Mamas & The Papas were actually considered a rock band, and The Association claimed they played "bluer blues than The Rolling Stones." Sure, there were dark days ahead: People got heavy, rock became adult, and the music contained herein was deemed suitable only for those "other adults." Nevertheless, a critical reappraisal of these sophisticated sounds has provided a beautiful afterlife for sunshine pop. It is now widely coveted, collected, and consumed. Heck, nowadays, soft disciples can openly exclaim that "Kites Are Fun" without fear of a hippie hitting them over the head with a bong, and there is no shortage of hipsters who can correctly spell the name of Curt Boettcher. So, join us in the park, at the beach, or wherever your soft dreams usually transpire. We've got a whole lot of rainbows to find!

Robert Gordon was one of the few major rockabilly revivalists who came on the scene before Elvis Presley died, albeit by a slim margin -- Elvis passed only four months after Gordon's first album was released in April 1977 -- and while Gordon rarely seemed to be emulating Presley in his glory days, the King was clearly a major influence on him, both as the man who disseminated the hepcat ethos to the world at large, and as a gifted singer whose talent went beyond the strict confines of the rockabilly genre into pop, rhythm & blues and gospel…![Robert.Gordon%2526Chris-Spedding-Now-Or-]()
...On It's Now or Never (once announced for release under the title "The King and I"), Gordon teams with one of his best instrumental sidekicks, guitarist Chris Spedding, and records 15 songs made famous by Elvis Presley with the Jordanaires, the vocal group that backed up Elvis on many of his RCA sessions, adding harmonies on several tunes. While Spedding follows the teachings of Scotty Moore in his guitar work and the rhythm section similarly aims for a sound that recalls what Presley did with these songs so many years ago, Gordon strives hard to give his recordings a personality of their own, and while Elvis casts a pretty long shadow over this disc, Gordon actually manages to sound like himself on It's Now or Never. It helps that he has a lower voice than Presley, and that his instrument doesn't seem capable of the same gymnastics as Elvis', which forces him to rethink the vocal lines a bit, but there's an undertow to this album that suggests Gordon respects this music too much to simply imitate Elvis. While Gordon brings the same sort of romantic brio to "It's Now or Never," conjures up a similar lovelorn passion on "Trying to Get to You" and even approaches the spiritual conviction of "Peace in the Valley," he finds a way to spin them his own way, and if he isn't the most original sounding vocalist in creation here, he approaches some of the best known songs in the rock & roll canon and interprets them on his own terms, no small task for any singer, and he does so with a healthy dose of heart and soul.
