Sammie Relford – Breaking Ice On Love
If you are looking for real deal soul, you’ll be pleasantly surprised that three Sammie Relford tracks have been put on 45 on the same record. The Texas singer has put out records that are on a lot of people’s want lists but not readily available aka they are rare AF. Great to see Izipho Soul have put three of them on the same 7″. The very hard to find “Breaking Ice On Love” is the A-Side, full of strings and could have been a Philly side, this one has been very difficult to track down and is by far our favorite track on the forty five. The A also features “Hey Love”, a stirring soul ballad from his We Are Stronger Together release from 1979. Powerful, slow grinder. When you flip it over, you get some quiet storm ’80’s goodness in “Hook Me Up”. Smooth: check. Rock Steady: check. Moaning and groaning: check. Reminds me of my childhood and some late night Power 99 out of Philadelphia ish. All in all, a great release. You can jump up and down and say you’ll never play a reissue or you can buck up and own a great cross section of tracks from Sammie Relford. The choice is ultimately yours, but we will choose to play music like this however we can get it. An OG would be great, but this on reissue ain’t that bad either. It is all about the music, and Sammie’s voice is too good to quibble over OG vs. reissue conversations. Listen to the three tracks below and feel that soul deep down people.

Michael Kiwanuka – Love & Hate (2016)
320 kbps | 116 MB | LINKS
Love & Hate, Kiwanuka’s sophomore studio effort is no slump. Nor is it a carbon copy of his critically acclaimed debut. This is anything but another all-too-self-aware soul revival album. This is a genuine, evocative statement from a man who recognizes that our world is broken in so many ways, and that each and every one of us is looking for answers of some sort. Love & Hate is powerful, raw and very real. An album that, at once, is extremely personal and also completely universal. It’s also a gorgeous listen.
The sprawling opening track, “Cold Little Heart,” sounds more like early ’70s Pink Floyd than any song in the early Soul catalog. It’s a full 10 minutes of washes of slow psych-soul, haunting vocals and hypnotic slide guitar. Danger Mouse adds an expansive, lush element to the proceedings, and his sonic touches can be heard throughout: stirring string arrangements, background vocals drenched in reverb and a sweeping, cinematic quality that sets the tone for the whole album. “I’ve always wanted to make an album that felt and sounded like this one,” Kiwanuka said in a statement. “Working with guys as good as Danger Mouse and [producer] Inflo really helped me find what I was looking for.”

The Krontjong Devils "The Surfin Sounds Of The Krontjong Devils" 1996 + "Moovin' With The Krontjong Devils" - 7"/45rpm

I was immediately impressed, in fact 'stunned' would be closer to the truth. The boys, Jan, Kees, Hendrik Jan, Jan Pier and Gerhard were fresh funny and totally uninhibited.
Through the years I've been following thede guys when they were playing at teendances and frat and poolparties. I can honestly report that sometimes the air was filled with off-key guitar playing and other misdemeanors, but then again there was always was that good humour and enthousiasm that made it easily bearable.
I have to admit that they started playing better and better since the first time I met our heroes. This can be heard on some great EP's you surely want to hear. I sincerely hope you enjoy listening to this album - Dr. Oet connoisseur of great surf & garage rock&roll
